How do tryouts work?

Rams Baseball Club will hold tryouts annually. The tryouts will assess skill in the major categories of the game. Additionally, the High School coaches will be only people evaluating the players. Players will be evaluatied objectively, that is, each task will have a numeric value associated. That value will be combined with other earned values from skills performed to generate the player rating. This rating is what will be used to generate teams. (for those not grandfathered in for the 2011 season)

Examples of skill evaluations:

Runnng - 60 or 40 yd dash, depending on age, base stealing time with a lead

Fielding - field grounder, throw from Short to 1st

Throwing - velocity and long toss

Hitting - In cages, on field

Pitching - Speed, accuracy and form

Catching (if the player desires to catch) - ball reception, blocking ability, etc

Additional tasks may be added as necessary.
